That... was unexpected. While Faye had grown accustomed to seeing the unbelievable in Darrow, she still hadn't reached the point where she learned to look for that as a rule. It still took her off guard, particularly when she hadn't been trying very hard to probe for information to begin with.
She blinked.
"Holy shit," she said under her breath, watching before stepping closer to the man, carefully edging her boot underneath his feet to check for any optical illusions. Not that she was really expecting to find any. He seemed like someone she could take at his word. "So... was that something you were just born with, I guess? You couldn't teach that to other people."
