It's not an answer that surprises Lily, really, she's well aware of the awful things people are capable of and she doesn't imagine it changes much world to world or even across time. There will always be those who are capable of evil, even here, she expects.
"How are you immune?" she asks, then. "I mean, I can understand the mechanics of it to a degree, but did someone choose you?" She isn't a scientist, but she knows the basics of why people recover from viruses, how their bodies work. But that, the basic knowledge of twelfth grade biology, is far different from what they're talking about here.
