There's an unmistakable irony in it, her talking about honesty when he's typically anything but. It isn't that Eames tends to be disingenuous, his personality not one crafted like he's seen so many other cons do; it's just that he doesn't talk about his line of work, neither the before nor the after of dream sharing. He keeps to a cover story and lets everything else fill in around it, and interesting as he finds this Faye, he has no intention of doing anything differently with her. Maybe that's going against the rules she's proposing, but he's never had any trouble cheating.
"Oh, there's not much to tell," he says with a shrug, peering at his own cards briefly before looking up at her again, finding the latter far more worth holding his gaze. "I'm from London, but I did a lot of traveling for work, which was in the energy business. And yourself?"
