"You can touch the hull, but nothing more," Faye told him, a concession and a warning all in one go. Fortunately, his general interest put Faye in a good enough mood to share for the moment. Even more so once he mentioned being familiar with some type of flight of his own — he wouldn't have been the first pilot Faye met in the city, but every opportunity to learn was one she soaked up eagerly.

She was well aware that some people in the city were far brighter than she was with aviation.

"Space is... its own beast. There's a lot of it that isn't so glamorous after you get used to seeing stars everywhere. But looking down on the planets never seems to lose its awe," she said, leaning against the side of the ship and unhooking the towel from around her shoulders, wiping at the side of her neck. "So what kind of flying do you do? Commercial? Military? Hobbyist?"
